SCREENING:

This award winning documentary by executive producer Joaquin Phoenix tells the story of one of the most successful campaigns in the history of the animal rights movement: the Stop Huntington Animal Cruelty (SHAC) campaign. Although SHAC only used nonviolent direct action and practised free speech, six of the campaign’s leading activists got sentenced to years in prison for their activism.

‘The Animal People’ inspires a new generation of activists on how to efficiently and effectively challenge corporate power, yet it also serves as a stark warning just how far the justice department will go to protect the industry’s interests.

Jake Conroy, one of the SHAC campaign leaders, will join us and will answer questions after the screening.

Ihre Vorträge und Workshops sowie aktuelle Filme dienen als Wissenspool und Anregung für alle, die sich für die Rechte der Tiere einsetzen möchten. Die »Hamburg Animal Rights Talks« sind ein gemeinsames Angebot von ARIWA – Animal Rights Watch e.V., Komplex Tier Vortragsreihe Hamburg und dem Tierrechtsaktivistenbündnis.
